Certified Nursing Assistants provide vital support to both patients and nurses as an essential part of the healthcare team. Taught by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, instruction covers basic nursing skills, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology. During the 17 week course, students will spend over 160 hours learning theory and clinical skills to prepare them for the State Certification Exam. Theory hours are taught on Zoom. Clinical skill hours occur at a North County healthcare facility. The program meets Friday evenings on Zoom from 4:00 - 8:00PM and in-person on Saturdays or Sundays from 7:00AM-3:30PM (arranged with instructor).
There will be a mandatory in-person meeting for all registered students on Tuesday, Aug 11, 2026 5-9 pm at DNHS room P116. Please note: No absences are allowed during the first 3 weeks of this course.
Prerequisites: Must attend a CNA Information Session or request an individual meeting with Michele Blanchard, Mblanchard@powayusd.com prior to registration.
